In addition to a free academic education, the Decilus Monice elementary school provides its students a hot meal at least 3 times a week. Back in Germany, Hugues Monice created the Club "Marabou" a small aid organization operated on the campus of the University of Tubingen.
Members of the Marabou club, participate in the Health Fairs by sending doctors, nurses and other volunteers to Petit-Goave every year. They also help in managing the Decilus Monice elementary school by providing schoolbooks and teaching materials.
THE DECILUS SCHOOL / LEARNING CENTER
The Decilus Monice Elementary school was founded in 2004 by Dr Monice and his brother Hugues who lives in Germany to honor their late father memory. It was opened to serve children who otherwise would not attend school in their lifetime.
It all started with 20 children and 1 teacher. School attendance has been increasing steadily for the past two years. The number of students attending EDM has now reached 115 with three teachers.
